Welcome to Lón
As with other peaks in the region, the batholithic Eystrahorn at the eastern end of Lón was formed as a subsurface igneous intrusion, gradually revealed through erosion. This is the best access for strolls on the sandy spit enclosing the eastern portion of Lón.
At the western end of Lón, the commanding Vestrahorn and its companion Brunnhorn form a cape between Skarðsfjörður and Papafjörður. Travel down the signposted road to Stokksnes to explore this striking area, known as Horn – the Viking Cafe is here, as is a farm-owner charging for land access.
