Welcome to Quedlinburg

In the 10th century the Reich was briefly ruled from here by two women, Theophano and Adelheid, successive guardians of the child-king Otto III. Quedlinburg itself is closely associated with the Frauenstift, a medieval foundation for widows and daughters of the nobility that enjoyed the direct protection of the Kaiser.

Although this little gem of a town can get quite crowded on weekends and in summer, Quedlinburg is almost always worth a visit, especially on quieter weekdays and in the cooler months, when it's the perfect spot to linger a little longer.
