Welcome to Namenalala
The volcanic island of Namenalala rests on the Namena Barrier Reef, now one of the most spectacular protected marine reserves in the country, 25km off the southeastern coast of Vanua Levu and about 40km from Savusavu. Namenalala has the best diving and snorkelling in the region: sights include the shallow isolated offshore Chimneys, covered with soft and hard corals as well as plenty of nudibranchs, and Grand Canyon, a drop off at least a mile deep along Save-A-Tack Passage where there are great drift diving opportunities and plenty of marine life. The island also has lovely beaches and is a natural sailors’ refuge. There’s just one small, upmarket resort, which also runs daytrips to the island.
