8 Days Omo Valley Tour

Day 1: Depart south from Addis Ababa via Butajira. Visit the archeological sites of Tiya (ancient stelae field and UNESCO World Heritage Site), Adadi Maryam rock-hewn church and Melka Kunture pre-historic tool-making site. Final destination for the day is Awassa in reserved Hotel. Day 2: After breakfast, visit the fish market on the shores of Lake Awassa and proceed driving to Dorze, set in the highlands above Arba Minch. The Dorze are known for their tall beehive-like houses and fine cotton weaving. You will visit the village and learn about the daily lives of these industrious people and overnight in reserved Hotel. Day 3: Depart to Arba Minch for a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the “crocodile market”, and the local hippos. Afterwards, depart from Arba Minch to Turmi. You will pass through the village of Weyto, which is home to the Tsemai tribe. Continue through the Weyto Valley to Erbore, you will have a brief visit to a local Erbore village. Finally, proceed to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe. At night, you can see “Evangadi” traditional night dancing of the Hamer tribe & Overnight in reserved lodge. Day 4: Take a day trip to Omorate to visit the Dassenech tribe. Here you will cross the Omo River by local boat and enter a Dassenech village. Afterwards, return to Turmi for a visit of the Hamer village. If lucky attend “Bull- jumping” traditional Hamer coming-ofage ceremony & Overnight in reserved lodge. Day 5: Drive to Jinka, via Dimeka and Key Afer. Tuesdays and Saturdays are market days in Dimeka, which is one of the most colorful markets in the area and is visited by many tribes, including Hamer, Benna and Karo. Afterwards, continue to Jinka & Overnight in reserved resort. Day 6: Drive through the Mago National Park to a local village of the Mursi tribe. The Mursi are known for their lower lip and earlobe plates. In the afternoon returning to Jinka, you can visit the South Omo Museum & Research Center to learn more about the local tribes. Alternatively, take a hike in the surrounding hills to visit a local Ari village & Overnight in reserved resort. Day 7: Depart from Jinka to Arba Minch via Key Afer and Konso. Thursday is market day in Key Afar, where you will see the Benna and Tsemai tribes trading goods. After the visit, proceed to Konso, are known for their wooden statues, known as wakas, which are erected in honor of dead heroes, as well as their innovative agricultural terracing. You will visit a local village and the cultural museum displaying many waka statues. After the visit, proceed driving to Arba Minch & Overnight in a reserved lodge. Day 8: Drive to Addis Ababa from Arba Minch. In the evening you will have farewell party in one of Ethiopian traditional restaurant where you can see cultural music and dance. Then Transfer to the airport for flight back home.

Day 1 : Arba Minch to DorzeYou will be met at Arba Minch airport and will take a beautiful drive up the mountains to Dorze village - home of Ethiopia's weavers.  You will enjoy a walking tour – visit the traditional bamboo houses, learn how to make the local bread from false banana tree, enjoy the market, watch women spinners and see the famous Dorze weavers. Stay overnight at Dorze Lodge, renowned for the spectacular views of the two Rift Valley lakes. After dinner, sit by the camp fire and enjoy the local singing and dancing.Day 2 : Dorze to Arba Minch (Lake Chamo and Nechisar National Park) After seeing sunrise, drive to Arba Minch and take a motor boat across Lake Chamo to visit Nechisar National Park. OMO Valley - the unique wilderness in 7 days

Day 1:  Arrive Addis Ababa Arrive at Bole (ADD),  Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, Transfer to Jupiter Hotel (4 Star). A half day city tour is included in the rate. You visit the National Museum (Lucy), one of the churches in Addis, the Merkato and enjoy the view from the Entoto Mountain. Day 2: Addis Ababa-Arbaminch-Tia Stele (UNESCO World Heritage Site) (B-D)  In the morning, start driving south to Tiya, where you will see the southern-most example of a peculiar type of engraved, standing stele which stretch across parts of southern Ethiopia. These steles are believed to have been erected between the 12th and 14th centuries and are almost certainly grave markers. After lunch, we will continue driving to Arbaminch on the way visiting the different small villages Welyita at Sodo and Alaba at Tembaro. Overnight: Paradise Lodge  Day 3: Arbaminch-Jinka (B-Picnic Lunch-D)  After an early breakfast, we will drive to Jinka en-route visiting different cultural people and their villages which include the Konso, Tsemai, and Ari. The Konso are famous for their old and unique terracing and unusual engraved wooden statues of Konso grave markers. Overnight: Omo Eco-Jinka.                        Day 4: Jinka-Mago-Mursi-Jinka (B-Picnic Lunch-D) After breakfast, we will drive from Jinka to Mursi Village. The Mursi, undoubtedly the most celebrated residents of South Omo are distinctive group of pastoralists. The Mursi are best known for their unique item of decoration, After our visit to the Mursi Village, we will have our picnic lunch in the Mago National Park and drive to Turmi. Overnight: Buska Lodge Day 5:  Turmi-Omorate (B-Picnic Lunch-D) In the cool morning, we will drive to Omorate to visit the Desanech (Geleb) tribal village after crossing the Omo River by boat. In the afternoon, we will drive to Hamer Village.
