Welcome to Vodnjan

Vodnjan's other claim to fame is as a stop on the Cesta Maslinova Ulica (Olive Oil Hwy), a tourist trail taking in various local producers; grab a brochure from the tourist office. Some have shops and some offer tours, but mostly they're just family homes where, if you knock on the door, you should be able to buy a bottle of their homemade product.

There’s not much going on in the rest of the town, which has Istria’s largest Roma population. The centre is Narodni trg, composed of several neo-Gothic palaces in varying stages of decay and restoration. There's interesting graffiti scattered around, both modern and historic, in the form of fading Partisan slogans daubed in red paint.
