Welcome to Canasvieiras, Jurerê & Jurerê Internacional
The island's northwest corner is home to Pleasantville-esque Jurerê Internacional, one of the most privileged residential neighborhoods in all of southern Brazil. Here the rich and famous live in Miami-style mansions in relative safety by Brazilian standards (no fences or walls). Blink twice and you'll swear you're in a wealthy North American suburb, a feeling only reinforced by some of Brazil's glitziest beach clubs. More subdued Jurerê (Traditional) sits just west, with one long 3.2km strand of sand flanking the two.
Canasvieiras, 4km east of Jurerê, is not the most attractive place on the island, but it has easy access to water-sport hub Praia de Canasvieiras; you'll likely change buses here at some point.
