Welcome to Camocim
Camocim is a low-key fishing port and market town near the mouth of the Rio Coreaú in northwestern Ceará, 40km west of Jericoacoara near the Piauí border. After Jericoacoara’s blissed-out traveler vibe, Camocim is a reintroduction to the rest of Brazil and, though not likely a planned stop, it’s a pleasant spot to break up your journey in the shadow of beautiful river and dune scenery.
Just a short distance from town, you can sip coconuts while tanning at Praia Barreiras, Praia do Farol, Praia Caraúbas or Praia de Maceió. However, for the great majority of travelers, Camocim is just a stop on the road.
