Welcome to Mount Gambier
Strung out along the flatlands below an extinct volcano, Mount Gambier is the Limestone Coast's major town and service hub. Despite some lovely historic buildings (pick up the City Heritage Walk brochure from the visitor centre) 'The Mount' can sometimes seem a little short on urban virtues (though you can get a good coffee here these days!). But it's not what's above the streets that makes Mount Gambier special − it's the deep Blue Lake and the caves that worm their way though the limestone beneath the town. Amazing!
