Crow Canyon Archaeology Center

Southwest Colorado

This cultural center, about 3 miles north of Cortez, offers a day-long educational program that visits an excavation site west of town. Programs teach the significance of regional artifacts and are an excellent way to learn about Ancestral Puebloan culture firsthand.

Travelers who want to stay longer can partake in week-long sessions, where guests share traditional Pueblo hogans and also study excavation field and lab techniques.
