Welcome to Geumsan

Ginseng (literally, ‘man root’) is the Chinese name for this stumpish, woody-coloured root; use your imagination and you too might see the shape of a body, complete with limbs and a head-shaped tip. To the Koreans it’s insam (인삼), and they have been cultivating it for more than 1500 years. It’s credited with myriad health benefits, from relieving pain and fatigue to curing cancer and improving sexual stamina.

In October, Geumsan hosts a 10-day Insam Festival, with tours and activities to show how ginseng is grown, harvested, processed and served.
