Laufauf

Top choice in Altstadt

A bastion for northern German and Hamburg cooking, Laufauf is something of a Hamburg institution. The Hamburger Pannfisch (locally fried fish), Bratheringe (fried herring), Labskaus (a meat, fish and potato stew with beetroot) or Matjesfilet (Herring fillet) are particularly good. It's a pretty casual place, which gets a mostly local crowd.
