Attached to the hostel of the same name but open to all comers, this sprawling, bawdy bar is synonymous with 'having a big one' in Cairns-speak. Throngs of party-ready backpackers and up-for-it locals pack the place out nightly for theme events and general good-timery, though annoyingly there's often a cover charge if you're not staying here.

The attached (more upmarket) Attic nightclub opens its gilded doors on Fridays and Saturdays (7pm to 3am).
