With 16 August marking the 40th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, fans wishing to get a little bit closer to the King may be interested to learn that his former Beverly Hills Estate has just been made available to rent.
The Los Angeles property spans 5400 sq ft, and boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows and walls of glass in every room. Perched on a small cliff and set far behind gates and trees for privacy, Elvis shared the property with his wife Priscilla and daughter Lisa Marie in the late 1960s. The backyard features a large lounge area with an entertaining space, including a pool and spa and the property even still includes the original gates that Elvis would come and talk to fans through.
The property is available to stay at through the Home Away website, and guests renting the estate will have complete access to the main house, as well as an attached guesthouse. The experience also comes complete with a 24-hour concierge service. Located close to some of the most famous restaurants and shops in West Hollywood, other personalities that have lived in the same neighbourhood include Richard Nixon, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Jennifer Aniston.
The house also features hardwood floors, skylights, large fireplaces and mountain views. Many of the original features are still in place, while some contemporary touches have been made in order to subtly modernise the estate. Although the property may be more convenient than Graceland for some super-fans, the cost of nearly $4000 a night may be enough to send some to Heartbreak Hotel.
This year, the 40th annual Elvis Week will run from Friday 11 August to Saturday 19 August, with a host of special events dedicated to the King set to take place.
