Helsinki takes the world's best airport award for 2016

International travel website eDreams has named the best 10 airports in the world, as chosen by 65,000 airport reviews left by its customers in 2016. Taking into account various factors, Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland came in first place, followed by Glasgow and Zurich airports.

Eight out of ten airports in the ranking are European. The other seven airports are 4. Munich, 5. Frankfurt, 6. Geneva, 7. Bangkok International, 8. Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, 9. Oslo Gardermoen and 10. Dublin. eDreams said it took into account the global quality of airports, their waiting areas, shopping facilities, and restaurants before rating airports out of five.

Those who are fans of airport shopping may like to know that when it came to best airports for shopping, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion took the top position, followed by Copenhagen and Zurich. Foodies may want to stop off at Dallas-Fort Worth airport, which won best overall airport for dining, followed by Zurich and Copenhagen. These airports also took the same top three positions for best waiting areas.
