    The epicenter of Kathmandu’s nascent craft-beer scene, this beer garden at the Thamel Eco Resort offers dozens of brews by the can alongside five taps offering an IPA, a pale ale and a saison, with two rotators. The beer mostly comes from Colorado but there are also brews from Vietnam and beyond, with local offerings in the pipeline.

    The various branches of this modern and buzzing coffeehouse are the place to lose yourself in a sofa, a laptop and a pulse-reviving Caffè Americano. There are also breakfasts, paninis, salads and cakes. The main Tridevi Marg branch has a balcony, lots of sofas and a big-screen TV for the football, but feels a bit like a hotel foyer; the smaller Mandala St branch in Thamel is quieter.

Sprockets, driveshafts and Tata truck grills have been turned into light fittings and bar furniture. If you are travelling on an Enfield, this place is a must-do pit-stop. It’s located about a kilometre east of Camping (Hallan) Chowk on Phewa Marg.

You do have to be patient with the juicemakers.
