Welcome to Southwest Peninsulas
The trident-shaped peninsulas in the southwest of the Westfjords are spectacularly scenic. It's a truly wild-feeling area, where white, black, red and pink beaches meet shimmering blue water, and towering cliffs and stunning mountains cleave the fjords. The region’s most popular destination is Látrabjarg, a 12km stretch of cliffs that is home to thousands of nesting seabirds in summer. The pitted roads in this sparsely populated region are rough and driving is slow – take a deep breath, you’ll get there!
