The Queen of Jaffna train service has resumed between Colombo and Jaffna after a gap of 24 years. Trains were suspended on the route throughout Sri Lanka’s long and bloody civil war following attacks by Tamil Tiger rebels. The reopening of the north-south train line is a key psychological milestone in the reconstruction of the country following the end of hostilities in 2009.
