Welcome to Parris Island, St Helena Island & Hunting Island
Across the bridge to the east, St Helena Island is the heart of Gullah country, where the descendants of slaves have meticulously preserved their language and culture, and where two Reconstruction Era National Monuments were established by President Obama in 2017. Further east, on Hunting Island, you'll discover one of the state's most breathtaking coastal parks, and perhaps a shark tooth. To the south, Parris Island features a Marine Corps training ground and museum, and an archaeological site where the country's first European settlers landed.
As if all that isn't enough, the sweeping views from the bridges connecting these lowland isles are beyond postcard-pretty.
