Prince of Wales Opera House

New South Wales

Originally built in 1871, and now owned by the Gulgong Amateur Musical and Dramatical Society, the Opera House is the oldest still-operating theatre of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. There is a small store next door that sells crafts made by local women to raise funds for the theatre – volunteer staff there may be able to show you inside (a donation is a nice thanks).

Several performances are held each year: phone the theatre or ask next door to see what's coming up.
