NASA has announced that it will be posting images of the earth known as ‘blue marble’ images every day.

NASA writes on Instagram: "The far side of the moon, illuminated by the sun, is seen as it crosses between our 'EPIC' camera on the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite, and the Earth - one million miles away."
NASA writes on Instagram: "The far side of the moon, illuminated by the sun, is seen as it crosses between our 'EPIC' camera on the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite, and the Earth - one million miles away."

‘Blue marble’ images refer to images of the full, sunlit side of the Earth, which reveal it in its entirety and make it look like a blue marble. On Monday 19 October  it launched a new website that will display images taken by a NASA camera (named EPIC ironically) on DSCOVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory). In a statement NASA said: “ Once a day NASA will post at least a dozen new color images of Earth acquired from 12 to 36 hours earlier by NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC). Each daily sequence of images will show the Earth as it rotates, thus revealing the whole globe over the course of a day. The new website also features an archive of EPIC images searchable by date and continent.”

These images are rare and so the news is particularly exciting.
