Diners in the US will be dazzled by these 24-karat gold-coated chicken wings

Chicken wings come with all types of coatings, but a brand new coating that has made its debut in the US is certainly out-dazzling the rest of them. If you’re visiting and want to try them out, the Foodgōd 24 Karat Wings are available at The Ainsworth branches in East Village and Chelsea in New York City and Hoboken in New Jersey.

These glittering Insta-worthy wings are soaked in a coconut butter, chipotle and honey batter for 24 hours, and are then dusted with real gold flakes. They’re complemented with a side of gourmet blue cheese dip. Edible gold needs to be in its purest form to be safe to eat, which is why this collaboration uses 24k gold.

The Ainsworth venues are multi-purpose spaces comprised of restaurants, bars, lounges and event areas, and the group collaborated with PR guru and social media sensation, Foodgōd, aka Jonathan Cheban, for the gilded treat. Culinary influencer Jonathan shot to fame as Kim Kardashian’s best friend on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and he has 2.6m followers on his food-inspired Instagram.

Foodgōd 24 Karat Wings are available in three tiers, so you can get 10 wings for $45 (€38), 20 wings for $90 (€76) or the ultimate indulgence – 50 wings and a bottle of Champagne Armand de Brignac for $1000 (€854). According to The Ainsworth, each order of 50 chicken wings is covered with 200 dollars’ (€171) worth of gold dust, at current commodity prices.
