Australian Aboriginal non-alcoholic beer brewer Sobah Beverages is collaborating with UK alcohol-free spirits distiller Seedlip at the latest Commonwealth Games with a non-alcoholic pop-up cocktail bar on the Gold Coast.
Sobah launched in Australia in December 2017 and has grown its distribution and following since, while Britain-based Seedlip has also made excellent headway in the Australian market. Seedlip makes the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirits based on the distilled non-alcoholic remedies from The Art of Distillation written in 1651, now re-purposed to solve the ‘what to drink when you’re not drinking dilemma’. Clinton and Lozen from Sobah invited Jimmy and Georgia from Seedlip to join their non-alcoholic pop-up bar featuring non-alcoholic beer and cocktails made with Australian bush foods, and will retail the botanical ‘spirit’ Seedlip along with several other ingredients from the cocktail menu.
‘Sunset Dreaming Cocktail Hour’ will see Commonwealth Games guests enjoying some ‘bush tucker’ nibbles while sipping tasty and healthy non-alcoholic cocktails, spritzers and brews. Customers can lounge in the outback style pop-up bar and watch the Commonwealth Games stream, shop for authentic Aboriginal art and enjoy the open mic sessions. A unique Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts and Culture Festival will also be held on the Gold Coast during the Commonwealth Games.
Ngullingi Ya Wahlu which means in local Yugambeh language, ‘Us with You’. It is an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to promote their arts, crafts, music and food and for the local community, national and international guests to immerse in one of the most ancient cultures in the world.
