There’s good news for travellers who struggle with language barriers, as a new app has been developed that will help you chat with someone who speaks a different language via your smartphone, with real-time instant translation.
The app, developed by technology company Odle, provides voice-to-voice translation of 87 languages, and chat translation of over 100 languages at various levels. It aims to change the way that people connect, expanding their friendships across borders, cultures and languages.
This could be used to great advantage for travel bookings or queries, where a language barrier exists. It could also help travellers communicate better with locals across the world, thus enhancing the travel experience.
Odle’s artificial intelligence natural language processing provides a fluid conversation experience. During video calls, your language of choice is heard by the recipient and text will appear on screen, in real-time.
The app also has its own social network where posts, comments, and chats are instantly interpreted. A commercial version of Odle, which was named after the Odle mountain range in Italy, will be launching in the coming weeks to help international business.
Founder and CEO Maged Gamani said: “Odle was born though my own struggle with not being able to speak English. I grew up in a small village in Yemen, and in order to do business with the wider world, the ability to speak English is paramount. Our mission is to help people around the world connect, make friendships and do business, regardless of which language they speak.”
Odle is available to download here.
