Kate Leeming of Perth, Australia has plans to become the first person to cycle across Antarctica.
With unpredictable weather and a very small seasonal window, the ideal time for Leeming to make the journey is December through January. She teamed up with Christini Technologies to design the world’s first all-wheel-drive fatbike, which will carry her across the continent. The physical conditions of the journey will be taxing, but Leeming says the fortitude she’s developed from other long-distance cycle journeys across Russia, Africa and Australia have prepared her for this expedition.
