Day 01 : Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Agdez - Zagora :Greetings at your riad or hotel where you will be picked up. you will start your journey southward to Draa valley via Tizi n’Tichka pass. you will visit the berber village of Ait Ben Haddou, it was established in the 11th century, its position on the main Marrakech to the sahara route, meant it was an ideal stop off for traders taking salt across the desert and returning with goods such as gold and ivory. After lunch, we continue over the Anti Atlas mountains, via the Berber villages of Agdz and the amazing Draa Valley. We will have dinner and spend the night in a riad/hotel in Zagora.Day 02 : Zagora - Tamagroute - Erg Chigaga:After breakfast we will continue towards M’hamid. We will visit the the original town of the 16th century dynasty Tamgroute and the old Koran library and to see the ceramics. We arrive to the Saharan village of M’hamid before taking the off-road track to Erg Chigaga. We will ride the camels into the attending the sunset and spend the evening in a desert camp, enjoy a Moroccan dinner, listen to berber music, you can join by drumming or dancing. Overnight in a traditional Nomad camel hair tent.Day 03: Erg Chigaga – Taliouine – Taroudant :After breakfast we drive across the Sahara over the stony desert and the dried-up Lake Iriqui. In the middle of this lake, we can search for fossils. At the edge of the desert at Foum Zguid, we drive north to Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets, where we stop for lunch. After we reach Taliouine a town famous with Safran, visit to a Safran co-operative. If your visit coincides with the Safran harvest, you will have the opportunity to meet the Berber people with their families harvesting the Safran in their fields. You will arrive in Taroudant early evening. After the Tichka pass, we leave the main road, take a side road to Telouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Glaoui family (Lords of the Atlas), it is in ruins now after the French left and the last Pasha fled. We continue along a beautiful connecting road and have lunch at Ait Ben Haddou. When lunch is over we can visit the Kasbah. It is the most famous in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch we travel south to Agdez, where the Dra’a Valley starts. We spend the night in a guest house or Riad or kasba. 2nd day : Agdez – Chagaga Dunes Following breakfast there will be time for visiting the rest of the Kasbah. We will then take travel off-road and along some of the ancient caravan between the mountains and the river, we will pass interesting villages and gardens so that you will get a better perspective of the way life is lived along the oases. We drive to M’hamid, the gate to the desert, to Erg Lihoudi, where and have lunch. Then, we continue to the Erg Chagaga dunes (300m) with 60km of off-road driving. This route includes different features of the desert ; ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, oases. The dunes you will see are far away from civilization, in the desert proper. And the peace and the vast expanse of the sand are an overwhelming sight ! Once there, you can take a camel ride for an hour and a half. In the evening we have dinner and then a good night’s sleep in a bivouac of nomad tents. 3rd day : Chagaga – Marrakesh After breakfast, we take the route through another 90km of desert enjoying various scenery : Lake Iriqui, the mountains and fossils. We have lunch in Foum Zguid, it’s the first village after the desert. There we can take a refreshing shower. The drive back to Marrakesh is along paved roads by way of the village of Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets and rugs. After that we cross the High Atlas to Marrakesh at the in the afternoon.

Later in the afternoon, we drive to M’hamid, the gate to the desert. Here, you can take a one to two hour camel ride to the highest dune and see an incredible sunset. You’ll enjoy the rest of the night in a nomad tent close to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. 3rd day : M’hamid – Chagaga We have breakfast and then head back to M’hamid to visit an old village across the now often dry river, Dra’a. We stay for the night there in guest house or riad . 2nd day : Agdez – M’hamid We have breakfast and visit a Kasbah before we drive off-road and down the Dra’a Valley to Zagora and have lunch. Later that afternoon, the trip takes us to M’hamid and the end of the paved road. Now we are at the beginning of the desert where we can take a one to two hour camel ride and see the high dunes where the sunset view is spectacular. We spend the night is s a nomadic tent very close to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. 3rd day : M’hamid – Chagaga Once we eat breakfast we return to M’hamid, across the dry Dra’a River, we visit the old village. When we finish lunch, the 4x4 will take us to the Erg Chagaga dunes, we will be traveling 60km off-road. We passes many aspects of the desert : ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, and the Sacred Oasis to dunes very far from from civilization, in the desert proper, it is very peaceful and the vast amount of sand looks overwhelming. If you like you can take a second camel ride here. Dinner is in the evening and you spend the night in a bivouac of nomadic tents. 4th day : Chagaga – Ouarzazate After we eat breakfast, we take a route through another 90km of desert with various types of scenery : Lake Iriqui, mountains and fossils. We eat lunch at Foum Zguid, it’s a village we come to right after the desert, we can take a refreshing shower here. The drive back to Ouarzazate is via the village of Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets and rugs, and we arrive in the afternoon. We stay the night in Ouarzazate. 5th day : Ouarzazate – Marrakesh We eat breakfast and depart to the Kasbah of Tifoultoute and the cinema studios, continuing to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, (many Hollywood blockbusters are made here) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will eat lunch at Ait Ben Haddou, then drive to Kasbah Telouet, the palatial residence of the former Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami Glaoui. We then cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, the highest pass in Morocco, in the afternoon, we reach the city

Then we take a one to two hour camel ride and we go to the bottom of the highest dune where the view of the sunset is glorious. We spend the night in a nomadic tent very close to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. 3rd day : M’hamid – Chagaga We have breakfast and then return to M’hamid to visit an old village across the now often dry river, Dra’a. Later in the afternoon, there is the departure for the Erg Chagaga dunes (300m) with 60km of off-road. This route passes various characteristics of the desert ; ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, oases. These dunes are far away from civilization, in the desert proper …… where the peace and the vast amount of the sand are an overwhelming site. You could have a second camel ride here, if you would like. Dinner and a good night’s sleep are in a bivouac of nomad tents. 4th day : Chagaga – Taroudant We eat breakfast and then drive 90 km across the Sahara over the stony desert, “reg” and “hammada” and across the dried-up Lake Iriqui. In the middle of this lake, we can look for fossils. Right at the edge of the desert at Foum Zguid, we head north to Taznakht, famous for its Berber gelims and carpets, and this is where we have lunch. After crossing the Tizi-n-Ikhsane and Tizi-n-Tighatine passes, we arrive in Taliouine, the heart of the saffron growing region. The road takes us on to Taroudant and we stop and spend the night in a riad. 5th day : Taroudant - Imlil Visting the town of Taroudant. then back up the High Atlas Mountains across the famous Tizi-n-Test pass, we stop at the Tinmal mosque, which can be visited by non-Moslems. We have lunch then continue through the mountains to the village of Imlil. We spend the night here in the quiet and overwhelming views6th day : Imlil – Marrakesh After we have breakfast, we can walk and look up at Toubkal Mountain, the highest peak in North Africa. we reach Asni, a small Berber village, famous for permanent and weekly soukhs. Then it’s time for tea with a local Berber family who will be willing to show us the traditional hammam and bread ovens. Finally, the last Valley on the trip is of the Lalla Takerkoust reservoir, it supplies Marrakesh and the area with water from the High Atlas snow melting. You can take photos of the incredible scenery over the lake. After that we head back to Marrakesh.
