Hyderabad, the capital of the newly created Indian state of Telangana, has been voted India’s most liveable city for the second year running.

Voters were influenced by its high job prospects - a result of the ‘Cyberabad’ IT revolution - as well as its low crime rate, good schools and low levels of pollution compared to other large Indian cities. However, the city lost one place in the international ranking compared to last year because of the 2015 heatwave, which caused many deaths in the region.
