Gloriously tranquil Pellegrini is the perfect place from which to explore Los Esteros: the wetlands surround the settlement on several sides. The town's wide sand streets have almost no traffic and the only noise you'll hear most of the time is a chorus of birdsong. It's a fine place to immerse yourself in nature.
Here you can organize excellent boat trips around the lagoons, explore the wetlands by kayak or hike along dedicated trails. But you don't even need to leave your hotel to get up close to the Esteros' fabulous wildlife – many hotels are constructed right on the edge of the laguna and capybaras stroll leisurely through their grounds while caimans loiter at the water's edge.
