    Odessa Philharmonic Hall

Housed in Odesa's beautiful former stock exchange building. Unfortunately, the original inhabitants (traders) asked the architects for a building with subdued acoustics, so that their business discussions couldn't be overheard. This is a pain, but not an insurmountable obstacle for the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, led by charismatic American conductor Hobart Earle, a former student of Leonard Bernstein. This orchestra accounts for half the symphonies performed here. Jazz and rock is often played here, too, and it's the venue of the Odessa Jazz Festival.

    Odesa Opera & Ballet Theatre

In addition to being architecturally magnificent, Odesa's theatre is also known for its marvellous acoustics. Unfortunately, the local opera company does not do justice to the theatre's impressive physical attributes, but performances are eminently affordable and the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra performs here from time to time.

    Green Theatre

A child of the Maidan revolution, the revived open-air stage at Shevchenko Park has become a magnet for Odesa intellectuals who flock here for Ukrainian and Russian bands, film screenings and literary evenings. With sunbeds and a food court, this is also a nice place to while away a summer day.

    Libertin

Odesa's gay hot spot, Libertin is an easygoing place with great resident DJs and drag-queen shows.

    Morgan Club

By day Morgan is a pretty benign breakfast or lunch spot or early-evening drinks stop, but at night capable DJs spin till the wee hours and there's a funky downstairs lounge. The crowd of expats, local heavies/beauties and sex tourists never fails to generate a colourful atmosphere.

Theatre, concert and opera tickets can be purchased at the venues or any Teatralna Kasa. There are several of them in the city centre, including the one in Passazh shopping arcade.
