Housed in the beautiful building of Odesa's former stock exchange. Unfortunately, the original inhabitants – traders – asked the architects for a building with subdued acoustics, so that their business talks couldn't be overheard. This is a pain, but not an insurmountable obstacle for the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, led by charismatic American conductor Hobart Earle, a former student of Leonard Bernstein. This orchestra accounts for half the symphonies performed here. Jazz and rock is often played here, too, and it's the venue of the Odessa Jazz Festival.
