Mandakini is the best place to stay in town, with clean, spacious rooms. Upstairs rooms are the pick with fantastic views (go room C14). Its Nepali manager, Chandar, can be extremely helpful in arranging last-minute permits, particularly for solo trekkers. Bucket hot water is ₹50. It's unsigned, but reached via the stairs just past Hotel Krishna Palace restaurant.
