Hoping to book a family holiday this year and looking for inspiration? You may be interested to learn that Airbnb has revealed the top fifteen trending destinations for family travel in 2017.
The results are based on data taken from recent guest arrival numbers at family-friendly listings on the website, and outline the amenities that families look for when booking a trip away as well as the most popular destinations. Coming out on top was Osaka in Japan, followed by Kyoto in the second position. Also in the top ten was Melbourne, Malibu, Reykjavik, Princeville in Kauai, The Big Island, Hawaii, Bordeaux and Fortaleza in Brazil. A survey also revealed that 43% of the families asked preferred to travel to new destinations every year, while 45% said they like a mix of both old and new places each year.
The survey also outlined other recent trends in family travel, including an increase in multi-generational trips, with 34% of families travelling with grandparents. Half of people surveyed expressed the need for spacious accommodation that could house multiple guests and friends, while more people surveyed believed culture and educational opportunities were important compared to the need for Wi-Fi. Another popular preference was being by the sea, with 75% saying that their families prefer beach or coastal getaways while on vacation. Top searched for amenities included pools, hot tubs, Wi-Fi and the inclusion of a kitchen in the property. The full list of trending destinations is available here.
