From the end of March, Spain will reopen an infamous Andalucian hiking path that was branded the world’s scariest walkway and closed to the public in 2001 after five people fell to their deaths. The Caminito del Rey has been considered too dangerous for walkers for the past 14 years, but local government funding has reinforced the pathway and added extra security measures to make it finally safe for public use once again. The 3km walkway hugs the sheer cliff face 100m above river level, snaking around the Garganta del Chorro (El Chorro Gorge - also known as the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes) near Málaga.
