Ayahuasca Ceremony in Manaus

For centuries Shamans have been boiling down the Ayahuasca plant (Banisteriopsi caapi) and chacruna shrub (Psychotria viridis) into a strong potion. Considered a religious sacrament, Ayahuasca is used in healing and spiritually enlightening ceremonies led by an experienced shaman. The Shaman will briefly speak with each individual to learn of their essence and inner dialogue before determining the dosage they are to be given during the ceremony. The Ayahuasca Ceremony lasts from 4-6 hours and begins after sundown with a group sitting in a circle around the shaman (healer). He begins with "Icar" or soft whistles and takes puffs of pure and strong tobacco from a wood smoking pipe. This is done to attract the spirits of the plants to help aid in the healing process of the individuals. Everyone including the Shaman drinks their measure cup or cups of Ayahuasca. Please note: We do not encourage or promote the use of Ayahuasca, San Pedro, mescaline, or peyote. We recognize that many countries consider these substances illegal. This activity is legal in Brazil, and it is closely monitored by a professional shaman.

Medellin Countryside Scooter Tour

Leave Medellin in the morning and head off through San Felix, the paragliding capital of Medellin. We ride our motorcycles through the curving country roads and rolling hills until we get to the town of San Pedro de los Milagros where we will stop and get a coffee and a snack in front of the church in the main square. After leaving San Pedro we will go deep into the countryside of Medellin where we will be completely away from all the tourists and able to see Colombian cowboys and towns people. The city is very small, peaceful and quaint and is the perfect place to stop and get lunch.  After lunch we will visit a farming family to say hi and see what they are up to and take pictures of their cattle operations. After this we will get back on the road where we will wind through the beautiful hills until we get to a huge lake overlook to take photos and enjoy the scenery.  This is the perfect relaxing day trip from Medellin and is totally free of the tourists that you normally find in Guatape. It is super beautiful and I highly recommend it.
