Your full-day tour from Zurich to Mount Rigi and Lake Lucerne starts with a panoramic drive over Albis Pass and then takes you to Weggis, a charming summer resort town on the shore of Lake Lucerne. Your guide will turn you loose in Weggis, where the self-guided part of your day trip begins. Take the aerial cable car for an approximate 15-minute ride up the mountain, offering you stunning views over Lake Lucerne.You’ll reach a middle station at an elevation of nearly 4,000 feet (1,200 meters), where you’ll change to the cog-wheel train (the first in Europe) that will take you on another 10- to 15-minute ride almost to the summit of the mountain.Your itinerary on Mount Rigi is flexible – you can spend one to 2.5 hours exploring at your own pace, using the itinerary sheets and timetables your guide will give you. Mount Rigi Winter Day Trip from Zurich

Departing from Zurich you're off to Weggis, from where a cable car and cogwheel train take you to the top of Mt. Rigi. Here, you will have two and a half hours to soak up the breath-taking views or enjoy a walk in the snow. Admire the spectacular views over the Swiss Alps and thirteen lakes from the summit of Mt. Day 1: Zurich – Weggis – Mt Rigi (D)Meet your guide in central Zurich and begin your journey to Mt Rigi with a scenic coach drive through the beautiful countryside and along the Lake of the Four Cantons (the official name of Lake Lucerne) to Weggis! Here, your guide will leave you to board the aerial cable car independently for the ride up to Rigi-Kaltbad (you’ll receive all tickets, instructions and documents needed for the rest of the day). Get off the cable car at Rigi-Kaltbad and switch to Europe‘s first cogwheel railway to complete the trip up to Rigi-Kulm, at an elevation of 6,000 feet (1,800 meters). When you arrive at the top, be wowed by the spectacular views over the Alps and several Swiss mountain lakes. The views are simply incredible, and you'll have approximately three to four hours of free time here to soak it all in.
