From now until 14 January, travellers passing through Heathrow Airport may notice a peculiar site; a luxury igloo located right on the roof of one of the buildings.
Created by Coppa Club, the London-based bar and restaurant that last summer created a series of personal cabanas situated along the River Thames as well as igloos that appeared in winter 2016, the pop up igloo was unveiled on 18 December as part of a special project created by Virgin Atlantic. Situated at the top of the Terminal Three Clubhouse, the igloo can seat up to eight people and offers impressive views of the runway. Decorated in the Nordic style, Virgin customers will be able to order from a food and drink menu before their flight.
“We’re delighted to be working with Virgin Atlantic to bring our igloos to the rooftop of the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. At Coppa Club we pride ourselves on delivering amazing outside spaces and after a second successful year of Coppa Club Igloos on our terrace at Tower Bridge this unique partnership offers customers the chance to enjoy the pop up in an unexpected setting. Virgin Atlantic is renowned for offering fabulous experiences and together we’ve created a space where customers can enjoy socialising outside whilst enjoying the spectacular views of the Heathrow runways,” said Isabella Kirkton, head of marketing for Coppa Club.
Coppa Club’s Mediterranean-style cabanas proved popular with London customers last summer, with the individual structures decorated with wisteria and roses booking up quickly. The custom-made igloos on offer at the bar and restaurant last winter came complete with sheepskin blankets, personal speakers, atmospheric lighting and a heating system.
