A traveller is ‘chinning’ her way around the world on Instagram

An entertaining traveller is taking pictures with a difference of herself at various landmarks around the world. Michelle Liu snaps her Instagram selfies from an angle below her head and makes a funny face while doing it, a process that she has named “chinning.”

Michelle began posting chin images when she moved to Vienna to study in September 2016, and this led to her snapping pictures at landmarks like Buckingham Place, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Eiffel Tower.

Most people pose up a storm when capturing heavily-curated holiday selfies for Instagram and filter them to achieve the most flattering image. 21-year-old Michelle decided to do it differently, because she felt confident in her own skin and didn’t mind looking “silly.”

Her great sense of humour comes across in the captions on her photos, which are generally witty and pun-tastic. She has also coined phrases like “chinfies” and says she wants to be “chinsta-famous.”

“My chinning entertained my friends all through middle school, high school and college, at which point I decided to share my chin with the world,” Liu said in an interview with MIC.

“Strangers always notice me chinning. Some appear shocked, others confused, but across the board from my experience, they are usually entertained.”
