Explorer Series 8-Day Guided Croagh Patrick & Islands Walk

Day 1: You arrive to the capital of Mayo – Castlebar town.  Here, your Guide will meet you at 16.00 hours, introduce you to your other group members & whisk you away to the western reaches of this glorious region to reach Achill Island.  This is your base for your next 2 nights and your Guide will brief you on the coming days of your holiday & ensure you are properly prepared for each day.  You will then walk to a nearby restaurant to enjoy your first dinner together & experience island Day 2: Achill Island - Leaving your accommodation, you reach a magnificent lake hidden in the mountains in an idyllic setting which supplies most of the island with its water. Walk Details – Distance: Up to 14kms. Day 3: Mulranny to Westport - Leaving this beautiful island, you then continue south east to reach the town of Mulranny. Before leaving Achill, your Guide will take you to see the beautiful Keem Beach – voted Ireland’s best beach! Walk Details – Distance: Up to 16kms.Day 4: Clare Island - Your day starts today with a glorious drive around the shores of Clew Bay to then reach a small harbour on the western tip of these shores.  From here, you take a small ferry across to the magnificent Clare Island. Walk Details – Distance: Up to 16kms. Day 5: Croagh Patrick - Today is your day for experiencing a pilgrimage as you hike the iconic mass of Croagh Patrick.  No trip to Mayo is complete without a journey to the “Reek” and as it dominates the landscape, so it features in so much conversation around the locality. Walk Details – Distance: Up to 14kms.  Day 6: Kilary Harbour - Today, you travel south through a wild & untouched region of mountain and bogland to reach the village of Leenane at the eastern end of Ireland’s only fjord – Killary Harbour. Walk Details – Distance: Up to 10kms. Day 7: Inishbofin Island - Your final day takes you by ferry from Cleggan Pier to the beautiful island of Inishbofin – awash with history, tradition & wonderful people. This is a day of discovery as you enjoy a circular walk around this historical island. Walk Details – Distance: Up to 16kms with some “cut off points” for those wanting shorter distances. Day 8: Departure - After your final and substantial Irish Breakfast, you will take the ferry back to the mainland & transfer by minivan to reach the bus & train station in Galway. From Galway, you can then avail of the excellent bus/train service to all major airports, cities & ferry ports in Ireland. Your estimated arrival time to Galway is approx. 11.00am.

Into The West- Cycle- Self Guided 6 Day Tour

Day 1: Cliffs of Moher Day tour to GalwayYou will be picked up in Dublin and start your incredible journey to the City of Galway where you will spend your first night. Galway is a magical place with street performers and buskers coming from all over the world. The next morning your bike will be delivered to you accommodation and you will start your cycle adventure to the magical Connemara region. Day 2: Oranmore to Oughterard Once you leave Oranmore, you are not far from Galway city, where you can stop to experience the energy of this young bohemian city.  From there you will cycle through many little villages until you reach the gateway to Connemara - Oughterard. This small traditional village in the West of Ireland offers stunning scenery of the Connemara mountain range and a 16th century Irish Tower House (Aughnanure Castle).Day 3 :  Oughterard To LeenaunFrom Oughterard you are set for an approximately 30 km exquisite ride through the gorgeous Inagh Valley. You can also cycle to the amazing Kylemore Lake which leads you to one of the most romantic places in Ireland; the Kylemore Abbey which looks more of a castle than an abbey.  After viewing these magical sights, you can have a rest next door at Mitchell’s Café.Day 4 Leenaun to WestportFrom the wonderful village of Leenane which sits on the Galway/Mayo border, you will travel to the popular town of Westport. Before you get there, you will be treated to an amazing ride through Lough Dooagh and up to the little hamlet of Louisburg where you can take a ferry to Clare Island for a few hours if it takes your fancy.  You will also pass Ireland’s holy mountain of Croagh Patrick before reaching Westport. Day 5: Westport to Maam CrossAfter a wonderful nights entertainment of traditional live music in the many pubs of Westport, it's time to get on your bike again. Today you travel on a beautiful road from Westport to Leenaun with Croagh Patrick in the foreground.  There are fantastic views along this road with lush green fields and crystal streams at every corner.  You will pass through Leenaun and on through a mountain pass toward the cross roads at Maam Cross. The cycle will take about 3 hours and you can stop at Leenaun along the  way.Day 6: Maam Cross to OranmoreToday is the last day of the cycling tour; as disappointing as it is, don't forget to enjoy your final day! You will make your way back from Maam Cross to Oranmore and be collected by our coach heading for Dublin. You will pass through Galway city on the way. The time until our coach collects you is yours to choose how to spend the time. Once you arrive back in Dublin you will be dropped at the centre of the city at College Green. We hope that this cycle tour in the west of Ireland will have you coming back for more!
