Welcome to South Sea Island
South Sea is the smallest of the island resorts and little more than a bump of sand – albeit a beautiful bump – with some trees growing on top. You can walk around the whole island in three minutes. Being so small – and only 30 minutes from Denarau – it can feel a little overrun with day trippers. That said, it's a popular destination for those on limited time but keen to sample the Mamanucas. Kids are well-catered for, with free fun stuff like palm-frond weaving, face painting, use of kayaks and squealing at the sight of sharks and starfish from a semi-submersible.
The beach is good for swimming and not bad for snorkelling; there's also small freshwater swimming pool. Reef Safari runs the dive shop here. Transfers are by South Sea Cruises or the Yasawa Flyer.
