Gonchen Monastery

Sichuan

Fronted with a large collection of stupas and prayer wheels, this imposing building stands on what has been the site of a monastery since the 15th century and a place of worship for far longer. From the Bakong Printing Press, walk through the courtyard out front and uphill to the left for about 200m. At the time of research, some of the chapels were undergoing renovations but others were still open.
