    Corktale

This hip wine bar has lost a bit of lustre by no longer employing a sommelier, but its well-stocked inventory of 125 or so boutique wines means it's still got a lot going for it, and it is a great, somewhat sophisticated place for pairing experiences with regional cheeses and tapas (€4 to €8.50). Wines by the glass cater to all budgets (€4 to €25).

What a view! You can practically see beachgoers slathering on the sunscreen in Tróia from this upscale 6th-floor cocktail bar's open-air patio. DJs spin deep house from an epic retro yellow stereo cabinet, and the bartenders are adept at a bevy of house cocktails and great G&Ts (€7 to €12). The decor is a bit Miami (not a compliment), but it's where the seen-and-be-seen crowd goes.

    Absurdo

The trendiest spot in town is your weekend must, when the outdoor patio here rocks and rolls until sunrise. Absurdo is where you'll find Setúbal's bold and beautiful, sipping excellent cocktails and struggling to be heard over live cover/tribute bands (last Friday of the month) or DJs (every Friday and Saturday).

The most popular spot for a drink in town is this craft beer–fuelled terrace inside Fortaleza de Santiago. Local Arrábida Beer Company's seven options – from a thyme lager to a citrusy IPA – go down a treat alongside the fort's ramparts and panoramic views of the beach and surrounding seas.
