Welcome to Lefkada Town
Unusually broad and flat for a Greek-island town, Lefkada's bustling capital faces the mainland across a salty lagoon. After losing its historic Venetian architecture in earthquakes in 1948 and 1953, Lefkada Town was rebuilt in a distinctively quake-proof and attractive style. It now resembles a Caribbean port, with attractive wooden buildings in faded pastel colours whose upper storeys are adorned with brightly painted corrugated iron.
