Hiker discovers ancient viking sword in Norway

A hiker in Norway has stumbled across a 1,200-year-old viking sword which is in such good condition that it 'could be used today', according to Jostein Aksdal, an archeologist working with Hordaland County.

Its grip has been lost, but it's thought that the 77-centimetre-long weapon dates to around 750-800AD. The sword was discovered in Haukeli, central southern Norway, and is to be sent to the University Museum of Bergen for conservation. Read more: thelocal.no
