Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center

This small museum and attached park is an important Native American cultural and educational resource. The museum has displays on the structure, history and folkways of the Cherokee. Nearby are two mounds, including the largest Native American mound in Alabama, likely used for ceremonial purposes (the other mound was a burial location). Frequent events are held here, but call ahead before visiting, as hours can be fungible.
