Georgetown Waterfront Park information
The Waterfront is a favorite with couples on first dates, singles hoping to hook up, families on an evening stroll and yuppies showing off their big yachts. The park begins at Washington Harbour (look for it east of 31st St NW), a modern complex of towers set around a circular terraced plaza filled with fountains (they light up like rainbows at night). Here you’ll find loads of restaurants and alfresco bars, as well as the docks for sightseeing boats that ply the Potomac to Alexandria, VA. The park then curves along 10 riverside acres east to the Key Bridge. Trees shade the clot of pedestrian-friendly lanes, and benches dot the way where you can sit and watch the rowing teams out on the water. Kids splash in the fountains at Wisconsin Ave’s foot. At 33rd St there’s a labyrinth in the grass; walk the circles and see if you feel more connected to the universe.
