Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail information
South of the lookout on the makai side of the road, a mile-long paved service road climbs toward the red-roofed Makapuʻu Lighthouse. You can park in the lot just off the main road. Although not difficult, the uphill walk can be hot and extremely windy – take drinks and hang onto your hat!
Along the way stop to take in the stellar coastal views of Koko Head and Hanauma Bay and, in winter, migrating whales who might just happen to be swimming by below. The trail itself is part of the Ka Iwi State Scenic Shoreline.
