National WWI Museum
National WWI Museum information
Lonely Planet review
You enter this impressive modern museum on a glass walkway over a field of red poppies, the symbol of the trench fighting. Through detailed and engaging displays you learn about a war that is almost forgotten by most Americans. The only quibble is that more effort is spent on the hardware and uniforms of the war as opposed to the actual horrific conditions. The museum is crowned by the historic Liberty Memorial , which has views over the city.
