Lonely Planet review for Palm Beach Lake Trail

This smooth, flat trail runs from downtown almost all the way to the northern tip of Palm Beach. Nicknamed 'The Trail of Conspicuous Consumption,' it's sandwiched between two amazing views: Lake Worth lagoon to the west, and an unending series of mansions to the east. To get here, park near Worth Ave, walk west to S Lake Dr and follow the path north to the Sailfish Club. For an abbreviated version, park in the metered lot off Royal Palm Way (or in the supermarket's lot on Sunset Ave) and head west to pick up the trail. Head north. Gawk.

A nice stretch runs along N County Rd. Park on Sunset Ave and head north on the path running to Palm Beach Country Club. At just under 2 miles, the route is lined with houses and magnificent trees and there are plenty of exotic side streets to explore.

You can also head south and park at Phipps Ocean Park. Stroll the path paralleling the Intracoastal and terminating at Lantana, approximately 3 miles south. On the way, try to guess how much the yachts cost. Double that figure; you're still low.
