Getting there & around

The small SLO County Airport (SBP; 805-541-1038), 3 miles south of downtown between Hwy 1/101 and Broad St, is served by America West (Phoenix), American Eagle (Los Angeles) and United Express (LA & San Francisco).

Greyhound (805-543-2121; 150 South St) runs daily buses to Los Angeles ($27, five hours) via Santa Barbara ($18, two hours), and to San Francisco ($45, seven hours).

Amtrak (1011 Railroad Ave) has good train service at SLO. The Pacific Surfliner regional train serves Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego. The Seattle-LA Coast Starlight stops at SLO daily. There are several daily buses that link to regional trains in Santa Barbara and San Jose.

San Luis Obispo’sRegional Transit Authority (RTA; 805-541-2228; www.slorta.org; fares $1-2.50) operates buses daily except Sunday across the region, including Paso Robles, San Simeon, Cambria, Morro Bay and the bay cities including Pismo Beach. Lines converge on the transit hub (cnr Palm & Osos Sts).
