Arab culture reveres children and Dubai offers plenty of entertainment for youngsters, much of it extravagant in novelty value (although often in cost, too). Waterparks and other adrenaline-fuelled activities are an obvious choice, while hotel pools and beaches are tamer options. If spirits and feet start to drag, you're never far from an ice cream parlour to pick them back up. Dubai also has a handful of parks with picnic areas and playgrounds for young children, best visited outside the sunburn season of July and August. As for older kids, consider activities like sand-boarding, camel-riding, an overnight desert safari or even a trekking trip to the Hajar mountains. All are available with local tour companies.
