In January 2009 Slovakia's legal tender became the euro. ATMs are available in most tourist destinations. Credit cards accepted in major hotels; otherwise ask ahead.

Tipping

Slovaks don't tip consistently, but rounding off the bill or leaving an extra 10% is becoming increasingly common (and is often expected of foreign tourists).
